Savoring our Soirees – Inspiring, Free, Evenings Designed Just for Us
Fellow parents, how often do we carve out special time for ourselves? If we scratch out a rare moment, how often is it beautiful, nurturing, inspiring, or – dare I say it – fun? Sono-Ma seeks to grant you a well deserved reprieve with our free evening soirees. We treat you to decadent experiences of food tastings, novelties, and prizes. Our events are hosted in settings where your compadres create and showcase art, which we hope fuels you to continue your own creative endeavors. Come along and savor our early summer Soiree. Then, get jazzed for our next event on October 27, 2011.
Isla Corbett’s Studio and Garden
Back in May, Sono-Ma’s Soiree featured Isla Corbett, who hosted our group in her idyllic garden and studio. Isla Corbett’s modern felt designs are incredibly alluring with their clean, simple lines, rich fabrics, and tangible quality. Not surprisingly, Isla’s work and play spaces reflect the same design de jour.
We all enjoyed “oohing” over the one room studio Isla’s husband built to house her sewing machine, wool felting supplies, and ever changing inventory. While many of us dream of a dedicated space to craft our creations, Isla checked this one of her list when her boy was just a young toddler. “We installed french doors so that I could sew in my studio while O. played in his sandbox just a few steps away,” shares Isla as she reveals some of her tactics for balancing mothering and pursuing her own creative passions.
Several guests walked away with felting kits for making hair flowers or swinging new clutch purses. You too can take home samples of Isla’s exquisite work. Find Isla at one of the upcoming major craft shows such as the Renegade Craft Show in San Francisco.
Every Sono-Ma Soiree includes food tastings, but this event took the cake! (Pun intended.) Ruthy’s Real Meals served up fresh crepes, savory dips, local vegetables, and other delectable, signature morsels. While Ruthy usually spends her days creating delicious meals for her home delivery program, she also caters special occasions like our event…

Special Treatment for Moms
Bellies N Bloom and Beyond gave a belated Mother’s Day gift to the mom’s at our last party. Leslie Gude put her gifted hands to work offering massages. She also passed around her Mama Mio products such as the glorious “Boob Tube“, which claims to fight saggy skin!
