Share Exchange celebrates “National Hanging Out Day” with clotheslines
On April 19, Santa Rosa’s Share Exchange joins forces with local company, LineDry.com to celebrate “National Hanging Out Day”, a nationally-recognized event that brings awareness to the energy conservation benefits of clotheslines and line drying.
LineDry.com’s owner, Laura Shafer, will “hang out” damp laundry on a clothesline on 5th Street from 11 am til 4 pm, and will have an outdoor exhibit of her clothesline photos. A live performance of the original song “Line Dry” will be performed throughout the day. Free samples of locally made laundry detergent will be available, and the public is encouraged to bring a freshly laundered and damp shirt, sock or some pantaloons to hang on the provided clothesline.
At 6:30 pm, LineDry.com hosts a fundraiser to bene fit the Share Exchange. The night’s festivities includes the Sonoma County premiere of the movie “Drying for Freedom” which, as one might guess, is about clotheslines. LineDry.com’s Shafer comments that “the idea of a documentary on line drying may sound boring, but the movie actually gives a riveting spin- excuse the pun – on the topic of clotheslines and the politics of line drying.” Door prizes and other entertainment top off the night. Admission for the film and reception (dessert and drinks) is $10 advance RSVP, $15 at the door, and all proceeds benefit the Share Exchange and its Local Economy Institute.
All events take place at the Share Exchange buildings at 531 and 533 5th Street in downtown Santa Rosa. RSVP for Earth Month events by phone or email: 707-583-7667 or email@example.com

About LineDry.com and Artist Laura Shafer
LineDry.com provides low cost and esthetically sensitive solutions for hanging laundry outdoors and offers free consultation services to help individuals decide on the best line drying options for their laundry habits and environment. LineDry.com partners with individuals and groups to overcome objections and private regulations which restrict a large population nationwide from having the choice of using an ecologically sustainable method for drying laundry. Ms. Shafer shows how cool it is to “hang out” with her recycled clothes clothespin bags, framed art prints and notecards of clothes out “on the line”, clothespin poems and her rousing “Line Dry” song, which is an anthem for eco-friendly living.
