What is Sono-Ma Sharing?

Have you been looking for a way to connect with other moms to share ideas? Dreaming of selling your underused toys? Want to put an ad out for your homespun business? “Sono-Ma Sharing” is just what you need! This on-line group, hosted by Big Tent, allows us to gather together like minded moms to do just this.

Help this group grow by creating your membership today. Tour our “Sono-Ma” sharing site, and find dynamic ways to participate in a community of local’s only moms. This group is based online but encourages us to build community both in person and in this social media.

How do I become a member?

Become a member by clicking on the “Join Today” icon on the right. Provide your email address and additional contact information. Sono-Ma’s moderators will approve your membership as long as you are a local Sonoma County parent and you adhere to the group guidelines for participation.

How can I be sure this is a safe group?

The Sono-Ma Sharing Big Tent group is a moderated group with participation guidelines. Moderators will help ensure new members meet the membership requirements, and oversee postings to ensure participation is positive and respectful. Group members who do not adhere to the positive participation guidelines may have their membership revoked.

Personal information such as your mailing address is only visible to the moderators, who will only use this information to approve your membership.

Sono-Ma Sharing is a private group, and only members can contribute to discussions or post classifieds.

With your help, we’ll maintain a safe community for making friends, organizing potlucks and start play groups for our children.

What information is visible to the public?
Sono-Ma sharing events and news are visible to the public, and shared on Sono-ma.com. However, all forum discussions, classifieds, and a list of the members is private information, which can only be accessed by logging in as an active member.

Is there a fee to join?

There is no fee to join this group. A small annual fee will be requested after one year of free membership. These fees help to ensure the group is moderated, and well publicized to potential members. Together we can build a valuable resource for local parents.

Who else uses Big Tent?

Big Tent Groups started in August 2006 with the Marin Mothers of Multiples http://www.mpomc.org/group. Sonoma County Mother’s of Multiples http://www.scmom.org/ also uses Big Tent to manage its group members communication, resource sharing, and event planning.

Selena Cate of Apron Thrift Girl brought this idea to Sono-Ma.com. Selena is a recent transplant from Bainbridge Island, where she as a member of the Bainbridge Island Moms. This Big Tent group was 1600 members strong! “Island Moms” of Bainbridge swapped advice about natural parenting, sold and bartered goods to each other, and found fast friendships. Let’s show Island Moms that Sono-Ma has spirit too!
